How to plan your sail

Tensioned Sails avoid cumbersome installations. Their anchoring system allows the placement of the sail, providing a clear shaded area.

Actual surface area of the sail

A. Manufacture of the sail is done using a steel cable placed around its perimeter. Tensioning the cable creates a curve on each side, resulting in a decrease in the shaded area that can reach between 25% and 35% of the projected surface in large sails.

B. Each sail has a corner fixation system to prevent tearing during tensioning. These fixations also reduce a small percentage of the shaded area.

10 m x 20% = 2 m = difference in height between the high anchor and low anchor.

Fixed point of the sail

Usually, all anchoring points of the sail have a tensioning system, and occasionally one of them is fixed and lacks it.

This fixed point should be mounted directly on a facade. Additionally, this point will be the most perpendicular to the sun, as the separation between the sail and the facade will be smaller, resulting in a larger shaded area.

Creating a difference in height between the high and low anchor points

We must consider projecting a slope between anchor points to facilitate water drainage in case of persistent rain. In the case of PVC canvas, this gradient will have to be more pronounced since the incidence of water is higher due to its waterproof nature. Normally, the minimum recommended slope is 20%.

The wind

Our sails are made with top-quality materials known for their maximum strength in the market. The areas that receive the most wind-induced tensions are the anchor points. For this reason, we give greater importance to these, installing certain types as needed by the designed sail model and the wind force it needs to withstand. However, in places where this element is very pronounced, we recommend detachable sails
